2015 KBF Open Press Release

PARIS,TN-

153 Competitors from 21 different states spent the last four days discovering the waters in and around Paris from kayaks. The Kayak Bass Fishing Open presented by Wilderness Systems proved to be the largest freshwater kayak tournament payout in history with First Place enjoying a payday of $16,000. The buy in for the kayak tournament was only $150.

This is the third year of the Kayak Bass Fishing Open. The previous two years were held on Santee Cooper in South Carolina. The KBF Open is the brain child of Chad Hoover of HOOK 1 Kayak Fishing Gear out of Hendersonville, TN.

The KBF Open this year paid 15 places and had numerous additional giveaways including a trip to Ray Scott’s Trophy Bass Retreat for the Day One leader.

The tournament is more than just that however. Several Nashville recording artists entertained the crowd among a vendor fair in the main convention center. Open to the public, this allowed the community, family and friends to see what kayak fishing is all about. Vendors were on hand to answer questions and talk about this blossoming sport.

Next year the kayakers will return to Paris for the KBF Open and the KBF National Championship March 24-26. The National Championship will have competitors from several different KBF Open events over the next year including events at Reel Foot, Tims Ford and Toldeo Bend.
