I know what you’re thinking. The event has Hobie right in the name. It must be just for Hobie-heads. WRONG.

Hobie’s third annual Bass Open (June 4-5, 2016) is called an open for a reason. We invite everyone in the kayak fishing world to join us for a good time on Kentucky Lake. It’s an absolute beast of a lake, a legendary hawg factory that also cranks out the numbers. That’s reason enough to bring your pedal or paddle kayak, canoe or stand up board to the captain’s meeting at host site Kentucky Dam Village on Kentucky Lake on June 3, 2016.
Here’s another: We’re paying out 100 percent of entry fees with a ratio of one place for every 10 entrants. Based on 100 entrants, first place will walk away with $3,500, not a bad payday for a weekend of fishing. Hobie Bass Open sponsors Hobie Polarized, Lowrance, YakAttack, Bassin’, RAM Mounts, St. Croix, Daiwa, Power-Pole, Rhino-Rack, and Plano are providing additional prizes.

The best prizes are the two qualifying spots for this year’s Hobie Fishing World Championship. Hear me out. There’s nothing like the Hobie Fishing Worlds. Hobie levels the playing field by providing every competitor with an identical kayak, electronics, a Power-Pole Micro, and other gear. The field is stocked with winners, anglers who qualified via tournaments across the world: the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Past competitors consider it an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience.

First place at the ‘HBO’ comes with a qualifying spot plus a travel allowance. Second place gets the invitation to fish the Worlds. Trust me, whatever ‘yak you ride, if you’re a competitor you want to test yourself under the bright lights.

The Hobie Bass Open is a two-day three-fish Catch Photo Release kayak fishing tournament. If you’d like to join us, sign up now. The Adult Division $100 early entry fee increases to $125 after May 3. Bring the entire family. Junior anglers can compete for only $25, and a free Family Fun Fest will take place on Kentucky Dam Beach Saturday and Sunday.
