The Fish Rules App for Iphone

I recently came across this handy little app called Fish Rules App for Iphone. The Fish Rules App includes saltwater fishing regulations for Federal and State waters in North / South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Louisianna, Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas.

One of the unique features of the app is that it uses your phone’s GPS and calendar to show only the regulations of your current location. When you have no signal on the water you can manually select your fishing location to get fish rules for your location.

One of my favorite features of the app is the Fish Log. I already keep a log of every fishing trip I take, so this will now make it easier for me to take notes while I am on the water. I can then transfer the notes to my logbook when I get home. It will also allow me to keep a back up in the app and just in case I forget to add a trip to my log book. In the event that that happens I will have this info in the app to fall back on.

If you like to share you catches on the web you can take a photo, log your fish, post it up and let all your friends know what you caught. You do have to create a Fish Rules account to log your catch.

Saving one of the most useful features of the app for last is the access to accurate illustrations and  photos help you identify your catch. Swipe an image to see identification tips and additional photos. It also provides you with Bag Limits, Vessel Limits, Minimum and Maximum size, Measure and Season. It also provides you with additional information on the fish such as nicknames, and edibility of the fish.

For $.99 in the iTunes store I think this is a very handy app to have for that price when you are on the water. You can find more information on the Fish App website or you can vist the Fish App Facebook page.
