Wilderness Systems Commander Seat Bar Reinforcement Kit

I wanted to document a step by step installation of the Seat Bar Reinforcement Kit for my Commander 140 so that others would have a guide. If you have any issues with your Commander or are a little bit bigger angler, you may want to install the kit for added reinforcement. This kit will also work with the Commander 120.

For the installation you will need a Philips head screw driver, 7/16 wrench, 1/8 hex key and some marine grade anti seize. A Hook1 sticker would help, too.

The seat bar is located directly below the captains perch and is attached with 2 bolts that hold the reinforcement bar in place.

I made the above diagram to give a visual reference as to where everything is located for the replacement.

First I removed these bolts (1 & 2 from the diagram) with the Philips head screwdriver and 7/16 wrench.

After removing the old bolts the bar comes right off.

After that I added the marine grade anti seize to the new bolts.

I then placed the reinforcement parts in place which included the new bolts, reinforcement bar, nuts and washers.

To tighten the new bolts I needed the 7/16 wrench and the 1/8 hex key.

Finally, I checked to make sure everything was in place and tightened it all down. Note: make sure not to over-tighten the bolts.

Here is a close up view of what it looks like when completed.

Here is the overhead view of the finished install.

That’s it your done!!

I would also like to say thank you to Robert Carmody www.robertjc.com for helping me out with the photos.
