I think back to when I was a young boy, wading creeks and walking the banks of a lake and thinking, if I could just get out there, I know I could catch one in that spot, right there by that tree or over on the other side where I know nobody has been. As a young boy I took it all in. The surroundings and the challenge just getting to that favorite fishing spot. Man, those are the trips I remember the most.
Now let’s fast forward to when I was finally able to buy my first Bass boat. What an awesome feeling it was to burn up the water. Get to that fishing spot super fast and then race to the next spot, then the next. Wow, I thought I was really doing something.. But maybe I wasn’t. Maybe I forgot what fishing was all about.
You see, all that time racing up and down the lake, I missed so much. I got caught up in the my boat is faster. My boat has a bigger motor. My boat is sparkles more. My boat cost more. I forgot what fishing was all about. I forgot to look around and see all the beauty that I once saw as a young boy. That`s what Kayak fishing has brought back to me. Its brought the inner child out in me again. I have visited those creeks I once waded. I catch fish in that spot I remember that I always wanted to fish. I notice what God has placed on this Earth for us to enjoy.
There are so many reasons I can tell you why you should try Kayak Fishing. But unless you experience them yourself you will never understand. I share this because I have fell in Love with this sport. I share this Love with my children now. Fishing is only half the enjoyment now. The planning and preparation for a upcoming fishing trip with my family is so much fun.. And finally making it to the water and seeing my kids eyes light up and talking about all that we see, ducks, beavers, birds, fish jumping, turtles, frogs croaking and then it hits me, This was the same thing I was paying attention to most as a young boy.
Kayak Fishing has so much to offer for the whole family.. I urge everyone to give it a try and if your already enjoying it, Please take someone on their first trip. Sharing this great sport is what its all about.. It was shared with me less than two years ago and I could not imagine, not ever Fishing from a Kayak again.
God Bless & Fish On !
