Shimano Introduces SLX Rods at $99

shimano ICAST 2018 SLX RodsLADSON, S.C. – ICAST 2018 Introduction • Available August ‘18 – Keeping with its ‘Can’t Stop Fishing’ idea in providing anglers with durable, lightweight, easy-to-use tackle, Shimano launches its new SLX rod series, a line-up including nine casting and seven spinning models in a versatile selection of lengths and actions. The rods offer tournament level performance to appease bass anglers of all abilities.

Made with 24-ton carbon blanks and featuring a Titanium Oxide semi-micro guide train, the split-grip SLX rods have a comfortable carbon fore grip and high-density EVA mid grip, along with Shimano custom reel seats. The nine casting rods include 6’10” medium and medium-heavy power models with extra-fast actions; a 7′ medium power fast action rod; three 7’2″ models in medium and medium-heavy power with extra-fast actions, and a heavy power fast action rod; 7’5″ rods in medium-heavy extra fast action, and heavy power fast action; and a 7’10 heavy power medium-fast action rod. The rod graphics match Shimano SLX baitcasting reels so the angler can put together a matched SLX casting system.

On the spinning side, the seven SLX models include medium-light to medium heavy power models in 6’9″ and 7′ lengths, for use to drop shot, throwing tubes and casting lighter hard baits. Both the spinning and casting rod all retail for $99.99.

“These rods will speak to anglers looking for quality and value. Even the most avid weekend and weeknight tournament angler will be pleased with their performance,” said Shimano’s Kurt Mazurek. “We can see the younger set – that ever-growing group of high school and college anglers who have brought tournament bass fishing to a new level – being extremely interested. Shimano has a dedicated program for these anglers, not only introducing them to our tackle, but also showing them the importance of conservation, fishing etiquette, possible careers in the outdoor industry and fishing/wildlife management, and simply being good stewards to the sport of fishing.”

During the initial launch of the SLX rods and reels, Shimano will be offering SLX casting ‘combos’ at a special price deal through select tackle shops.
